January 2021 – Coronavirus Update – the fell and the toilets are open but the visitor centre remains closed. Due to national lockdown exercise is permitted with your own household or with 1 person from a different household, in your local area.

If using the fell please adhere to social distancing restrictions. Please leave the fell as you found it and respect each other. Take care and stay safe!

Amended Procedure with regards to Covid-19 restrictions :

Little Green Frogs toddler group meet every Monday from February to December going on themed adventures around the fell. We meet at the visitors centre at 10am and sessions last for around an hour and a half.

These sessions will hopefully commence this February. Booking essential.

Home Education Sessions

We meet regularly (twice monthly) on a Monday afternoon from 1pm. We cover a variety of outdoor themes and activities for example: shelter building, navigation skills and minibeast hunting. Each session can accrue credits towards an award e.g. John Muir Award.

School Visits

With over 30 years of teaching experience, we run bespoke school visits to the fell. From EYFS to KS4. Here are some ideas but please contact us to discuss your objectives/aims.

  • Science – including seasonal changes, plants, animals, habitats, life cycles etc.
  • Geography – human/physical features, navigation/map reading skills, locality study
  • English – learning linked to traditional tales, woodland stories and survival texts.
  • Natural art

Family Events

We run family events most months ranging from Family Den building sessions to seasonal fun days. Please see our newsletter and social media for up to date information.

Childcare Adventure Days

Children from the age or 4-11 can join use for a day of outdoor adventures on one of our ‘Adventure Days’ on the fell. They run during the holidays from 9.30am – 3.30pm and meet at the visitor centre. Activities include: den building, orienteering, survival skills like fire lighting and lots of woodland games!

Dates available throughout the year for a Beacon Fell Adventure party. Whether it be pirates, fairies, a teddy bears’ picnic or survival challenge, we can tailor the party to your needs. There is also indoor space available to book.
